About DeMonica D. Gladney
DeMonica D. Gladney is a native of Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, cum laude, from Lamar University. In 1993, she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center. She began her legal career as a Briefing Attorney for the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas. Ms. Gladney is currently Counsel for Exxon Mobil Corporation, where she has practiced for thirteen years.
In addition to a successful legal career, Ms. Gladney is an inspiring and anointed writer, poet, author and speaker. She was inspired to begin writing at a young age and would write poems to encourage and comfort her family and friends. Not fully understanding her divine gift, she continued to pursue her passion for writing. Ms. Gladney is the author of the inspirational poetry book, Reflections from God, and the new release, Willing to Wait: From Revelation to Manifestation, which are available at online and local bookstores. She is currently working on her next book, Identity Theft: Discovering the Real You.
Ms. Gladney has been invited to be a speaker in a variety of venues, including churches, women’s and singles’ ministries, and professional and civic organizations. She was recently featured in Ladies First Magazine and on radio talk shows, including the KROI – Praise 92.1 radio station and the Let’s Talk Single broadcast, to talk about her new book, Willing to Wait. Her book is a practical and insightful “survival” guide for those who have chosen to wait on God and are searching for the spiritual tools to help them wait.
DeMonica is the personification of commitment and excellence. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Commercial Law Section and as a Board Member of the Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association (NBA). She previously served as the President of the Houston Lawyers Association (HLA) and the Chair of the African-American Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Texas (SBOT). She is a also a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Corporate Counsel Women of Color and the Downtown Group.
DeMonica served as the Pro Bono Coordinator for ExxonMobil and on the Executive Board of the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program. She is a Fellow of the Texas Bar a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Houston Lawyers Foundation. She also received the NAACP’s Award for Legal Excellence.
